In a nutshell

Heather Mackey

I'm a writer/editor, though when I was a kid I also considered becoming an adventure guide in the Himalayas. I write for kids, adults, and corporate clients. I've spent a number of years working for technology companies, helping to present their stories on the web. I've been a wet-behind-the-ears reporter going to meetings at city hall, a copy editor buried in the Chicago Manual of Style, an earnest grad student in creative writing workshops, an editor and web producer working crazy hours at a startup, and a virtual team member coordinating stories and web copy for launches happening across different time zones and geographies. I take on a small number of clients whom I'm always trying to impress by providing outstanding editorial services in a cheerful and cost-effective manner. Lastly, my middle-grade novel, The Wolves and the Wood, is under contract at Putnam's.
